Grushko: Russia will continue to seek agricultural exports as part of a grain deal

/TASS/. Russia will continue to seek the sale of agricultural exports under the grain deal. Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Grushko said this to journalists on the sidelines of the Valdai discussion club on Thursday.

"We will continue to seek a solution to all these issues [on the implementation of the grain deal], this is absolutely necessary. The obligations that were taken before us, we are talking about a package deal, which is associated with a guaranteed, safe export of grain from Ukrainian ports - all this must be fully implemented," he said.

As Grushko noted, Russia is constantly conveying its position on these issues to Western countries. “We are working not only with the European Union, but also with the world community. Here were two big trips of our Minister [Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov] to Africa, all African countries say that they need both Russian grain and Russian fertilizers The United Nations took over the task of lifting the sanctions, and we must admit that, indeed, Secretary General Mr. [Antonio] Guterres is making efforts, but things are still there in many areas," the diplomat stressed.

At the same time, the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation recalled that many issues related to anti-Russian restrictions have not yet been resolved. “All the same, there are bans that apply to the agricultural sector in general in Russia, for example, the import of agricultural machinery, spare parts, technologies and much more into Russia is prohibited. We can’t solve the issue of exporting Russian fertilizers from Western European ports, how many months have passed: and only Recently, a batch of fertilizers, 20,000 tons, was sent from Rotterdam. Rosselkhozbank - the issue has not been resolved, and this is the main bank through which all payments are made, disconnected from SWIFT. Issues with insurance have not been resolved, colossal problems with logistics," Grushko said .

Earlier, sources in the world organization told TASS that negotiations between the UN, Russia, Ukraine, the US and the EU on further facilitating agricultural exports, as well as fertilizer exports, faced difficulties, and there has been almost no progress lately.

On July 22, a package of documents was signed in Istanbul to solve the problem of food and fertilizer supplies to world markets. The memorandum between Russia and the UN fixes that the world organization is involved in the work to remove anti-Russian restrictions that impede the export of agricultural products and fertilizers. Another document prescribes the mechanism for the export of grain from the Black Sea ports controlled by Ukraine. Agreements between Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the UN imply the creation of a four-party coordination center, whose representatives will inspect grain ships in order to prevent arms smuggling and provocations.
