Ecuadorian banana exports to Russia up 9% in 2022

PRIME. The export of Ecuadorian bananas to Russia in 2022 grew by 9% despite Western sanctions, producers want to increase supplies, Russian Ambassador to Ecuador Vladimir Sprinchan told RIA Novosti.

"The volume of banana supplies increased last year by 9% despite logistical difficulties and problems with making payments, especially at the beginning of the NWO," he said.

“I visited banana plantations several times, the producers showed and proved to me that their products are clean in terms of sanitary standards, they talked about the desire to increase supplies. Russian companies also showed interest in increasing purchases,” Sprinchan added.

However, there are still logistical problems associated with a shortage of transport capacities and containers, the diplomat said.

"A number of Western firms have stopped working in this direction, so everything rests on the impossibility of sending all the desired volume," the ambassador explained.

In addition, he said that there is an increase in the supply of Ecuadorian flowers to Russia.
