Swedish manufacturer of vodka Absolut decided to stop exporting to Russia

The Swedish manufacturer of vodka Absolut has decided to stop exporting its products to Russia. This was announced on Tuesday, April 18, by the CEO of The Absolut Company Stephanie Durru.

She noted that after the announcement of the return to the Russian market on April 12, a flurry of criticism was received, while the manufacturer cannot condemn employees and partners.

"The reaction of recent days clearly reflects the role that Absolut plays for its large community in Sweden," Dürru said in a post on the company's website.

The Swedish alcohol producer Absolut is a subsidiary of the French Pernod Ricard. The concern also includes the brands Chivas Regal, Jameson, Ballantine`s, Beefeater, Havana Club, Olmeca and Ararat.

On January 26, information appeared that Western alcohol brands could return to the Russian market with the help of parallel imports. It is known that the Beluga Group may start selling Jagermeister liqueurs and Johnnie Walker whiskey. Luding Group has similar plans, as well as a number of other specialized networks. It is noted that both brands are included in the list of alcoholic beverages for which parallel imports are allowed in the Russian Federation.

In early December last year, it was reported that imported drinks began to be imported into the country through parallel channels. The price of most drinks has not changed.
