Russia and Oman signed an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation

/TASS/. The Sultanate of Oman and Russia have signed an agreement on the elimination of double taxation with regard to income taxes and on the prevention of tax avoidance and evasion. This was reported on Thursday by the Oman News Agency.

The document was signed by the Deputy Minister of Finance of Russia Alexei Sazanov and the head of the Tax Administration of Oman, Saud bin Nasser al-Shukaili. According to the agency, the agreement is aimed at legal protection of investors and will help increase trade.

The draft agreement between the governments of Russia and Oman on the avoidance of double taxation was presented in July 2022 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The document, in particular, provides for a tax rate on income from dividends of 10%, subject to holding 20% of the company's capital for 365 days, in other cases the rate will be 15%. In addition, the document may exempt dividends and interest from taxation if they are paid to the government, the Central Bank or pension funds of one of the countries.
